Motoring enthusiasts will be over the moon at the prospect of picking up a rare 1988 Ferrari 328GTB “Gran Turismo Berlinetta” factory right hand drive at Mossgreen’s forthcoming Collectors’ Cars, Motorcycles & Automobilia auction from noon Sunday August 14 at 935 High Street, Armadale.

The Ferrari 328, with a catalogue estimate of $225,000-$250,000, has a 3.2-litre V8, four valve per cylinder layout and a top speed of 267 km/h – reaching 160km/h in 13 seconds.

McPherson family collection goes under the hammer

An Emmanuel Phillips Fox painting entitled The Avenue that has not been seen in public for 100 years is a major highlight of the estates of Lady Sidney Orme McPherson and her daughter Marion Orme Page to be auctioned from 10am on site at 216 Domain Road, South Yarra through E.J. Ainger.

In its original John Thallon frame, the painting was originally part of the artist’s estate sale on February 29, 1916 at the Upper Athenaeum Hall in Collins Street, Melbourne where it sold for 15 guineas.

A 1730s baroque gilt bronze boulle clock and an eight-leaf double sided Chinese coromandel screen from the late Qing dynasty are two of the highlights at Philips Auctions latest auction from noon Sunday July 31 at 47 Glenferrie Road, Malvern.

The eight-day clock, complete with the maker’s mark De Lorme of Paris, contains enamel cartouches and Roman numerals upon a gilt dial bearing the “Sun King” emblem. 

Another intriguing item is a fine antique Chinese bronze vase with timber base, also from the Qing dynasty.
