Auction goers will take a trip down memory lane when they walk into Young’s Auctions weekly sale from 9.30am Friday October 9 at 229 Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn.

On display are relics of the past including wooden weaving spindles, microscopes, scales, old rulers, clips desk tidies and a three-metre long Robur shop signs from the 1930s and 1940s.

Model car and ship collectors will be intrigued by the large specimens (measuring more than one metre) on offer.

Sixty years worth of “old stuff” will go under the hammer when auctioneer Steve Graham mounts the rostrum at 10am on Sunday October 11 at 7 Ardoch Street, Essendon.

One of the main features of the auction is a copper and leadlight feature door that came from the former 1930s Mercantile Mutual building in Melbourne CBD and an ostrich egg in a Morton’s Fish Paste cardboard box.

The house contents include a hallstand, marble washstands, mirrored sideboards, dressing tables, display cabinets, beds, wardrobes and mirrors.

Kim’s Auctions has been asked to handle the sale which features quality sterling silver including a 1774 George III swing handle basket, a 1697 pair of William III lighthouse castors featuring the London coat of arms, a George IV oval shaped Scottish soup tureen by J McKay, an 1830 William IV ewer and basin, and George III dinner plates (London 1762) and six-piece tea service (London 1817-18).
