Leonard Joel
Keith Clarke is fondly remembered as the wardrobe supervisor for Channel 2 – for which he earned his nickname the “designing man”.
A man of great style and talent, in addition to his agility with needle and thread Keith was a costume designer for the Australian Opera, Australian Ballet and the ABC.
His most well known design was for Dame Joan Sutherland’s 1976 performance in Idomeneo for which he still had the original costume sketches when he died.

Menzies Art Brands
Menzies chief executive officer Justin Turner is confident the company’s forthcoming auction could realise almost $10 million (including buyers’ premiums) when 154 art lots go under the hammer from 6.30pm Thursday August 10 at 1 Darling Street, South Yarra.
There are plenty of strong works by top line Australian artists to back up his claim, starting with the catalogue cover piece – Frederick McCubbin’s Pastoral 1904 – purchased in 1971 by the current owners’ family at auction in Melbourne and expected to sell for $500,000-$700,000.

Kim's Auctions
A huge line up of antiquities is a striking feature of Kim’s Auctions forthcoming sale from 111am Sunday July 23 at 327-329 Warrigal Road, Burwood in Victoria.
One of the major highlights is the upper section of an Egyptian cedar wood and bronze inlay anthropoid sarcophagus lid about 600B.C. from the Late Period Dynasty XXVI.
A solid cedar casing for a nobleman, the sarcophagus is gesso covered and painted with a black tripartite wig, visage in red – the lips drawn into a slight smile above a rounded chin and false beard.
