Italian furniture from major manufacturers such as Cassina, Poltrona Frau, B&B Italia and Artemide will comprise much of the latest Leonard Joel Modern Design auction from 6.30pm Monday July 30 at 333 Malvern Road, South Yarra.
Early pieces from such designers as Paolo Buffa and Silvo Cavatorta – including card tables, mirrored sideboards and marble credenzas – will be among the items on offer.

Christian McCann Auctions is proudly offering a 19th century kingwood commode made by master cabinet maker Paul Sormani (with a catalogue estimate of $80,000-$100,000) at its forthcoming auction from noon Sunday July 29 at 426 Burnley Street, Richmond.
One of Europe’s leading cabinet makers at the time, Sormani was recognised for his expertise in fruitwood marquetry, producing furniture in both the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles.
Born in 1817 in Venice, at age 30 he opened his first shop in Paris where he specialised in making necessaries and fantasy furniture.

Plant and machinery specialist Dominion Group has taken on the task of auctioning antique furniture, paintings and objets d’art from the former Mossgreen warehouse on site at 1 Torteval Place, Clayton from noon Thursday June 28.
The company took on the sale when liquidators BDO, appointed to oversee the winding up of Mossgreen Pty Ltd (which went into voluntary liquidation in December last year), abandoned the process.
The auction contains a comprehensive range of items including paintings and prints, objets d’art, books, chandeliers, and sports memorabilia.
