Christmas comes early at jewellery auction

A range of quality and exciting jewellery that would make ideal Christmas presents will be on offer to buyers at Philips Auctions forthcoming jewellery sale from 6pm Monday December 8 at 47 Glenferrie Road, Malvern.

While many of the items carry estimates of several thousands of dollars, still more are estimated at only hundreds of dollars.

Typical of the jewellery on offer is a stunning art deco diamond double brooch/jabot pin handcrafted and signed by Draysons of London.

Long time client leaves his auction legacy

Artwork belonging to a long-time Young’s Auctions client, who died recently, is a major highlight of the auction house’s forthcoming sale from 9.30am Friday December 5 at 229 Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn.

“The man was a client for more than 40 years and knew both my father Bill and grandfather Ernie,” explained director Ian Young.

Many of the oil paintings have gilt frames and feature ships and horses among the subject matter.

The auction contains model cars, trains and robots and an extensive range of English porcelain and crystal.

Blinky Bill fans chance to buy animation history

Blinky Bill fans have their final chance to take advantage of a rare opportunity to own a slice of Australian animation history before the online auction – run by Leonard Joel – finishes Friday December 5.

The online auction, which began on November 21 and is being conducted in association with the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, features 25 hand painted signed animal cels of the loveable koala and his friends – donated by creators Yoram Gross Film Studio.
