Ring auction not to be missed

A stunning range of diamond solitaire rings could make the ideal Christmas gifts as Philips Auctions gears up for its fine decorative arts and jewellery auctions from noon on Sunday December 1 and 6pm on Monday December 2 at 47 Glenferrie Road, Malvern.

The largest of the diamonds is 8.88 carats, with others measuring respectively 6.25, 4.30, 1.80 and 1.50 carats.

These rings have already generated a great deal of interest with enquiries from both overseas and throughout Australia.

Hollywood legend Joan Crawford jewellery up for grabs

Unique jewellery items formerly in the collection of Hollywood legend Joan Crawford will be a major drawcard for Australian and international collectors at Sotheby’s Australia’s forthcoming jewel auction from 6pm Monday December 2 at 118-122 Queens Street, Woollahra in Sydney.

The pieces form part of a 235-lot sale of historic, modern and contemporary jewels that is expected to reach between $2.02 and $2.74 million.

One of the Joan Crawford items is a Raymond Yard gold and citrine necklace/brooch carrying an estimate of $48,000-$58,000.

A selection of rare Australian art and more than 100 pieces of estate jewellery will feature in Amanda Addams Auctions final – and largest – sale for the year from 6.30pm Monday at 344 High Street, Kew.

Amongst the art works is a major Sali Herman oil from 1952, a rare Arthur Boyd lithograph and works by David Boyd, Charles Blackman, Pro Hart, Carlyle Jackson, James Wigley, Ernest Vogel, Geoff O’Logouhin, Margaret Cowling, Dawson McDonald, Ellen Burgess, Steven Deutscher and Dong Lin Zhang.

These items are accompanied by prestige wristwatches from designers such as Breitling, Frank Muller and Faberge.

The auction contains rare antique jewellery pieces including an emerald and diamond pendant, along with South sea pearls, gold and a wide selection of diamonds.
