Australia Post auction a 10-hour marathon

Abbeys Auctions November 9 annual Australia Post sale lasted for almost 10 hours as more than 1000 lots of unclaimed postal items were keenly contested by both online and auction room buyers.

Several of the more unusual items to go under the hammer included a limited edition Les Paul Gothic Series Gibson electric guitar, which sold for $1440 including buyers premium.

A Bear Brick collectible figure displaying a Sex Pistols theme changed hands for $570, while a small painting Fire Dreaming by Ronnie Tjampitjinpa brought $1080.

Other unusual highlights included a pair of steel and leather jousting gloves ($156) a group of infra-red hunter’s scouting cameras ($1000) and a 1972 E49 Charger model car limited edition number 168/1000 complete with certificate of authenticity ($336).

A nine-carat white gold with solitaire diamond sold for $1800.
