Whitechapel Foundry bells music to the ears

A set of antique Whitechapel Foundry orchestral bells, a vintage Belgian clarinet and other vintage musical instruments should attract music lovers to Christopher Braggs Auctions latest sale from 11am Sunday at 20 Lilydale Grove, Hawthorn East.

The furniture up for auction is largely oriental with Baba Nyonya pieces and early 20th century Chinese furniture up for grabs.

Several of the paintings also are Chinese along with works by F Mutsaers, K Kandis and Tormod Holth.

Decorative arts include art glass from Australian and Chinese artists and buyers also should be interested in the wide selection of Murano, Moser, Loetz and other European and Scandinavian glass on offer.

A comprehensive range of ceramics – including Wedgwood, Royal Worcester, Royal Doulton, Carlton Ware and Royal Copenhagen – is another auction feature.

The auction contains a stunning Qum master weaver’s silk rug with a Shah Abbas floral field and a large assortment of collectibles featuring a Thomas Pickard plate and other cameras, vintage enamelled metal signs, old tin and plastic toys, fishing rods and reels, an antique cast iron saddler's riveting machine, vintage tools, and kitchenalia.

There also are unusal paper weights, coins, bank notes, swap & stamps, Beatles ephemera, theatre and musical posters, pre-loved furniture, white goods, restorers' accoutrement, fabrics, table linen, and retro lady's fashion wear.
