A rare collection of silver inlaid antique rifles should bring militaria buffs running when the hammer falls for the first time from noon Sunday December 14 at Christian McCann Auctions 426 Burnley Street, Richmond.

The auction has something for everyone and many of the items will make ideal Christmas presents as the festive season gets into full swing.

There are major bronze and marble sculptures and an original 19th century cast iron cherub fountain.

The porcelain section is notable for a massive pair of French ormolu mounted Sevres vases – with English Royal Worcester, Meissen and Dresden also featuring prominently.

A Donvale collection of antique Chinese porcelain, ivory, jade and carved furniture is another drawcard – while the French inlaid and ormolu mounted furniture and exhibition mirrors are not to be missed.

The auction also offers superb French and English 19th century clocks and clock garnitures and a strong collection of 19th century Australian and European art.
