A rare Paul Newman Rolex Daytona Cosmograph wristwatch is the highlight of Mossgreen’s Fine Jewels and Watches auction from 6pm Monday November 17 at 126-130 High Street, Armadale.

The auction also features a selection of jewellery from international publicist Patti Mostyn, who represented many of the biggest names in the music and entertainment industries.

The Paul Newman Rolex is the Holy Grail for many horological enthusiasts and is one of the world’s most sought after timepieces.

Made in the 1960s, this model was not a big seller for Rolex and, consequently, few were produced.

Originally selling for as little as $300, the most expensive Paul Newman ever sold was in November last year for US$1,089,186 at an auction in Geneva.

The rise in value of the Paul Newman Daytona has been astronomical.

This example has been in the current owner’s possession since being purchased during the 1960s in Europe.

Patti Mostyn numbered among her clients such well-known celebrities as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, George Michael, ABBA and KISS – and was Elton John’s publicist and close friend for more than 20 years.

Her jewellery collection of 36 pieces includes an art deco diamond bracelet from Tiffany & Co and Cartier rings, bracelets and watches – give by Elton to Patti during their long friendship.
