Monster auction sale for Christmas

A monster two-day auction of art, antiques, English porcelain, alcohol, glassware, garden items and collectables will be held from 11am Saturday December 12 and Sunday December 13 at Ballarat Mill Markets 9367 Western Highway Warrenheip, Ballarat.

The auction, by Ballarat Woolshed Auctions (a subsidiary of Glenelg Auctions), will feature 80 lot of Australian art including works by Hans Heysen, Albert Namatjira, J.A. Turner, Russell Drysdale, Walter Withers, Reg Sturgess, Albert Tucker, John Olsen, Sidney Nolan, Hugh Sawrey, David Boyd, Pro Hart, Ernest Buckmaster, David Bromley, Taylor Ghee, Judy Cassab, Cumbrae Stewart and Septimus Power.

The superb antique furniture includes dining tables, sideboards, bookcases, desks, a rare artists cabinet in Australian cedar with brass mounts and two Robert Prenzel items – a hallstand and a mirror.

The auction also features a major single owner collection of English porcelain including Cotswold Sheperd, Crown Derby and Devon, Royal Dux, and five large dinner sets.

There are fine rugs, clocks, silver, jewellery, bronze sculptures and lights – and 150 lots of fine old Scottish, Irish and American whiskey and other spirits, liqueurs, and red wine.

The auction also has a 1962 fully restored and registered Beardmore London taxi.
