McCann Auctions has breathed a huge sigh of relief that, with COVID-19 restrictions lifted in Melbourne, auction goers can now view its forthcoming Sunday November 8 sale (from 12pm) in person at 7 Harper Street, Abbotsford.

The auction comprises a fine selection of 18th and 19th century French and English antiques including George III and Regency library and sitting room furniture by iconic maker Gillows.

This is complemented by superb 19th century French ormolu mounted salon furniture, an important floral marquetry decorated commode, carved giltwood mirrors Veni Martin panelled vitrines, salon suites and occasional pieces.

There is a fine collection of timepieces including longcase, carriage and salon clocks – and 19th century bronze figures and figure groups.

Rare is a collection of 16 watercolours by famous Royal Worcester artists such as Rushton, Baldwin and Stinton.

Works by several of the more recognisable Australian artists such as John Olsen, Hugh Sawrey, Arthur Boyd, J.H. Scheltema, Ernest Buckmaster and Pro Hart are another strong auction feature.

Online, absentee and telephone bidding still a strong feature of this auction.
