Large book collection sale a prelude to Abbeys special auction

While a large book collection is the highlight for Abbeys Auctions general sale from 9am Friday August 21 at 480-482a Station Street Box Hill, auction goers are looking forward to the company’s special sale on Saturday August 29.

This forthcoming collectables sale features a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-date 18-carat yellow gold watch with 10 diamonds and a vintage Rolex.

Another major drawcard – particularly for porcelain collectors – is the William White 1920 Royal Doulton figure The Coquette HN20 wearing a blue dress.

White was a contemporary and fellow student of the Royal Academy of Arts Sir Thomas Brock and both studied in Sir Richard Foley's studio.

He won the academy's gold medal - the aim and ideal of every sculpture student.

Examples of this extremely rare piece seldom appear on the auction market and are keenly sought after internationally by serious collectors.

It is listed in the monthly e-magazine Collectables Price Guide Monthly (HN20 The Coquette, blue) at US$7250.
