Jewellery is the mainstay of Young’s Auctions latest weekly from 9.30am Friday July 17 at 229 Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn.

Of particular interest to collectors will be a one-carat diamond ring and an art deco diamond brooch.

Swarovski crystal is another major attraction for auction goers. Produced in Wattens Austria, the electric cutting machine that facilitated the production of crystal glass was patented in 1892 by Daniel Swarovski.

Three years later, he founded a crystal cutting  factory in Wattens to take advantage of local hydroelectricity facilities needed for the energy-intensive grinding process.

The auction also contains clocks, dinner sets, paintings and arrange of porcelain figures and jugs.
