For lovers of style, Leonard Joel’s forthcoming Fine Jewellery Auction highlights the popularity of cocktail jewellery, particularly among many of the legendary Hollywood stars such as Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich and Elizabeth Taylor.

The auction, from 6pm Monday December 1 at 333 Malvern Road South Yarra, features such gems as a bouquet brooch by Santagostino – intricate, beautiful and colourful, but still, according to experts, subtle in nature.

Unashamedly ostentatious, according to Leonard Joel’s national head of jewellery John D’Agata, is lot 350 – an oval 173.60-carat Citrine cocktail ring – and lot 228, a Citrine, sapphire and diamond bombe ring.

The auction also features a selection of Argyle diamond mine pink diamonds, a good example of which is lot 243 – a loose 0.89-carat Natural fancy intense pink diamond.

There are more than 300 lots of eclectic jewellery items, providing ample variety for jewellery collectors.
