Intriguing collectibles at Ainger auction

Buyers looking for exotic and decorative English, European and Egyptian items could do worse than checking out E.J. Ainger’s latest weekly sale from 9.30am Tuesday August 19 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.

The pieces are part of estate furnishings from Melbourne homes and include oriental furniture and huge consignments of collectibles and items bound to interest auction goers.

Among the more unusual items is a clock holder by Panther of Birmingham, a pewter art deco service by important French pewter maker E. Chanal and a Bakelite shaving brush and soap.

The porcelain offered features a Royal Worcester floral painted pot pourri, a Carlton Ware lustre jug, a Moorcroft circular bowl and a Gouda four-handled vase.

Other intriguing items include a Regency tea caddy and a 1916 Trench Art machine gun model.

Silver features a 1934 quache by Flavelle Sydney, London and furniture includes a Victorian carved back mahogany credenza and two-door bookcase, red lacquered Chinese cabinet and an Edwardian cylinder top desk.
