Motoring buffs will be delighted to check out the 1997 BMW840i, registered until October but with no roadworthy certificate, from a deceased estate and part of Abbeys Auctions special collectables and antiques auction from 10am on Saturday at 480-482a Station Street, Box Hill.

Highly collectable, the car carries an estimate of $13,500-$18,500 – priced to reflect the fact it will be sold at auction without roadworthy certificate or warranty.

Two unusual sculptured birds made from Murano glass is another highlight in an auction of more than 900 lots combining interesting and eclectic items including mid-20th century and retro classics, antique furniture, porcelain and glassware, and jewellery and watches.

The auction includes unusual late 1960s to early 1970s Danish candlesticks and tableware by Lundtofte and a collection of early 1950s sporting magazines, one of which features Don Bradman’s story as the greatest cricketer of all time.
