Royal Doulton jugs, plates and figures to be auctioned over several weeks
The first of a comprehensive collection of Royal Doulton character jugs, plates and figures will be among items to be auctioned from 9.30am Friday at Young’s Auctions 229 Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn.
This vast collection will be auctioned over several weeks to avoid over-burdening the market and devaluing the items involved.
The auction also contains a large collection of Danish retro furniture – including chests, sideboards and leather lounges – and a wide range of traditional landscape art, in particular a New Zealand painting of a young girl standing by a river.

The Trespassers by Henry John Yeend King should be a strong attraction for auction goers at Mossgreen’s European and Asian antiques and art sale from 6.30pm on Tuesday March 4.
Born in London on August 21, 1855, Yeend King was an important Victorian genre and landscape artist who began his education as a choirboy.
He continued his schooling at the Philological School before being apprenticed to the glass painters O'Connor's and then to study painting under artist William Bromley.

Cricket lover's unusual homage a sporting memorabilia auction attraction
An ornate mother-of-pearl, hand painted visiting card case commissioned by the second man to ever captain an English cricket team, the Honourable George Harris, was undoubtedly a unique way to pay homage to the sport he loved – given that most would have settled for a stump, bail, bat, ball or item of clothing.
He even had the case painted with a cricket scene on one side and a self-portrait on the other.
