Art and estate jewellery an auction feature
A selection of rare Australian art and more than 100 pieces of estate jewellery will feature in Amanda Addams Auctions final – and largest – sale for the year from 6.30pm Monday at 344 High Street, Kew.
Amongst the art works is a major Sali Herman oil from 1952, a rare Arthur Boyd lithograph and works by David Boyd, Charles Blackman, Pro Hart, Carlyle Jackson, James Wigley, Ernest Vogel, Geoff O’Logouhin, Margaret Cowling, Dawson McDonald, Ellen Burgess, Steven Deutscher and Dong Lin Zhang.

Ring auction not to be missed
A stunning range of diamond solitaire rings could make the ideal Christmas gifts as Philips Auctions gears up for its fine decorative arts and jewellery auctions from noon on Sunday December 1 and 6pm on Monday December 2 at 47 Glenferrie Road, Malvern.
The largest of the diamonds is 8.88 carats, with others measuring respectively 6.25, 4.30, 1.80 and 1.50 carats.
These rings have already generated a great deal of interest with enquiries from both overseas and throughout Australia.

The furniture includes a large 19th century plan chest and French oak hallstand, along with a Geo bureau and other bookcases, sideboards, dumb waiters, display cabinets and French and English wardrobes.

Antique typewriters an old racing bikie's passion
Emeric Somlo’s collection of antique typewriters, sewing machines, telephones, irons, lamps and radios is one of the most unusual, rarest and best ever seen in Australia.
A native of the western Romanian village of Dolat near Timisoara, Emeric was born in 1923 and died in May last year.
During World War II, he served in both the German and Russian armies and after the war took up motorbike racing in both speedway and motorcross events in the eastern bloc countries.

Art mix for keen auction goers
A mix of traditional, modern, contemporary and Aboriginal art will characterise Deutscher and Hackett’s latest art auction from 7pm Wednesday November 27 at 105 Commercial Road, South Yarra.
One of the major paintings is Rupert Bunny’s Cherries, c1908. The work was part of his 1911 solo exhibition at the Baillie Gallery in London before being brought to Australia in July of that year for the Exhibition of Pictures by Rupert Bunny at Athenaeum Hall, Melbourne as part of his triumphant return after 27 years abroad.

There also is a pair of Australian cedar chests, a superb French style farm house table with eight matching high back chairs, parquetry coffee tables and English and French occasional furnishings.

Bacon’s rare triptych Three Studies of Lucian Freud recently set a world auction record when it sold in New York for an incredible US$142.4 million – eclipsing the US$119.9 achieved last year for Edvard Munch’s Scream.

Major works to attract buyers to Bonhams auction
Several prominent art works will be major drawcards for Bonhams November 25 auction sale - part of its four-day Spring Auction Series - from 7.30pm at Byron Kennedy Hall, Moore Park, Sydney.
One is Arthur Streeton’s The Palace of the Doges c1906, which he painted during his Venetian honeymoon with his new wife, the celebrated violinist Nora Clench.
The month-long stay produced a renowned group of works depicting the sights of the watery city, romantically referred to as La Serenissima.
