Bacon’s rare triptych Three Studies of Lucian Freud recently set a world auction record when it sold in New York for an incredible US$142.4 million – eclipsing the US$119.9 achieved last year for Edvard Munch’s Scream.

Featured is English and Italian dining room furniture, several good quality leather and upholstered lounge suites and chairs.
There also is a pair of Australian cedar chests, a superb French style farm house table with eight matching high back chairs, parquetry coffee tables and English and French occasional furnishings.

Several prominent art works will be major drawcards for Bonhams November 25 auction sale - part of its four-day Spring Auction Series - from 7.30pm at Byron Kennedy Hall, Moore Park, Sydney.
One is Arthur Streeton’s The Palace of the Doges c1906, which he painted during his Venetian honeymoon with his new wife, the celebrated violinist Nora Clench.
The month-long stay produced a renowned group of works depicting the sights of the watery city, romantically referred to as La Serenissima.

The auction is in two parts – Chinese and Asian arts to start, and from 2.30pm Australian and European art and antiques.
Former Sotheby’s Australia founding CEO and chairman (1982-1998) Robert Bleakley has included several items from his private collection, the highlight being a rare and exceptional 15th century early Ming Dynasty Chinese gilt bronze seated figure of Mahakala, Defender of the Faith.

World War I and World War II German and Australian medals are among a range of military collectibles to be auctioned from 10am Sunday November 10 by auctioneer Steve Graham at 64 Urquhart Street, Woodend.
The collectibles include a Beaumont Adams 1862 black powder revolver, Japanese, Russian and English swords and a World War II leather flying helmet.
The auction contains a Gottlieb cue ball wizard pinball machine, petrol and oil collectibles, enamel and tin signs and vintage riding crops and whips.

Sydney collector Michele Asprey has been collecting contemporary Australian art for many years.
She has collected many artists in depth – including Patricia Piccinini and Tracey Moffat who will feature prominently in Mossgreen’s single owner auction from 4pm Sunday at 926 High Street, Armadale.
The auction includes an edition of Moffat’s well-known work Something More along with artistic attractions such as Piccinini’s Waiting for Jennifer and Blue Portrait from the series Protein Lattice 1997.
