Gibson’s Auctions love affair with English-born climber, explorer and photographer Alfred Gregory (1913-2010) continues with a timed online auction that ends in incremental stages from 10.30am Thursday April 23.
This latest effort, with 127 photographic lots on offer, follows an earlier Gregory sale by the Melbourne-based auction house, located at 885-889 High Street, Armadale, in August last year.

Gibson’s Auctions is another of Melbourne’s auction houses working its way around the coronavirus pandemic restrictions by holding its forthcoming Chinese & Asian Ceramics and Works of Art sale entirely online.
The auction is scheduled from 10.30am Wednesday April 8 and is a timed online sale with only virtual viewing.
All bids must be placed via Gibson’s Auctions website www.gibsonsauctions.com.au and will be executed immediately against the lot’s reserve or the current highest bid.

Christian McCann Auctions had barely moved into its new premises at 7 Harper Street, Abbotsford when Australian government restrictions on trading and social distancing because of the coronavirus pandemic forced its next sale to be carried out entirely online, by telephone or absentee bidding.
This, despite the new premises being set up with a second gallery specifically purposed for displaying art and jewellery at each forthcoming auction.

Leski Auctions
The collection of one of Australia’s leading master model railway builders, the late Frank Kelly – who died in June 2016, will be auctioned from 2pm Sunday March 22 by Leski Auctions at 727-729 High Street, Armadale.
His handiwork was admired by all who knew him and the first 55 lots of the sale gives collectors the perfect opportunity to acquire one of his models.
Leski Auctions describes every lot as unique and testament to Frank’s ability to build from scratch by hand models of Victorian and South Australian locomotives and rolling stock.

Cabinets by American designer Jonathan Adler (lots 383 and 384) belonging to a famous Australian singer and celebrity, who had the interior of her Hawthorn home designed by TV personality Shaynna Blaze from the much-loved show The Block, is one of the more fascinating auction attractions at Philips forthcoming decorative arts sale from noon Sunday March 22 at 47 Glenferrie Road, Malvern.
Now 54, Adler was born in New Jersey, New York and turned his childhood passion for pottery into a full-blown professional career, launching his first ceramic collection in 1993.

EJ Ainger
When Glenleigh Antiques in High Street, Armadale was a major fixture in Melbourne’s antique furniture scene in the early part of this century, one of its greatest customers was a wealthy Toorak socialite whose exquisite tastes were easily indulged by an open cheque book.
The furniture she bought at the time is now a major part of E.J. Ainger’s special two-day auction from 10am Saturday March 14 and 11am Sunday March 15 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.
Because it is a deceased estate, the executor has instructed Aingers that all the items must be sold.

Menzies Art Brands
Menzies is excited about the potential for a new artist auction record for Australian artist Del Kathryn Barton’s painting Openly Song 2014 (lot 33) at its first sale for 2020 from 6.30pm Thursday February 27 at 1 Darling Street, South Yarra.
Chief executive officer Justin Turner describes the painting, which has never been auctioned before, as the best of her works to come onto the secondary market.

Christian McCann Auctions
Kilora, the homestead belonging to one of Australia’s best known 19th century newspaper editors and proprietors, George Henry Mott (1831-1906), will be auctioned in Hamilton, Victoria, from 11am Sunday February 23 by Christian McCann Auctions.
The house sale, at 45 Kennedy Street, will be followed at 12pm by its contents. Considered one of the most important houses in Hamilton it was built for Mott – who at that stage was editor of the Hamilton Spectator – in 1871 on the best site in town.
