English-born diemaker Thomas Stokes migrated to Australia in the 1850s in an unsuccessful search for gold and instead established a business in Melbourne minting large numbers of tradesmen’s tokens.

Neil Collister an auction house favourite
The late Neil Collister was the sort of collector most auction houses would pay good money to have in the room at sale time.
There was always some item – be it smalls or antique furniture – that would grab his interest every time he frequented his favourite Melbourne or Victorian regional auction houses and his collection grew steadily.
An accountant by profession, Collister even learned French polishing and took an interest in upholstering so he could either keep or restore his antique purchases to good order.

Farewell online auction for artist Annette Edwards
Australian artist and printmaker the late Annette Edwards was one of those people who found it natural to mix music, dance, dramatic and visual arts in a meld of painting and printmaking that has left a lasting impression on the Australian art scene.
Graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Edwards was heavily influenced by one of her teachers George Baldessin (the ‘Baldessin Circle’ was influential in Melbourne’s printmaking culture) and probably swayed her decision to become a printmaker.
