Auction collectables to bring in the buyers

Carnival glass, Minton and Wedgewood dinner services and Lladro and Royal Doulton figures are among the attractions at E.J. Ainger’s forthcoming auction from 9.30am Tuesday October 31 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.

The auction also contains a wide selection of kerosene lamps, estate jewellery, sterling silver and Goebel and carved ivory figurines.

Among the furniture on offer is a pair of Moran Chesterfield settees, an impressive cedar desk, a Tasmanian Huon pine wardrobe, a decorative oriental six-fold screen and large gilt and wooden mirrors.

The auction contains a strong selection of English and French furniture including two exceptional French court cupboards.

Auction a reminder of the great novelist Charles Dickens

Reminders of the famous English author Charles Dickens will be on show at E.J. Ainger’s forthcoming weekly auction when a Victorian mahogany Charles Dickens desk goes under the hammer from 9.30am Tuesday September 26 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.

A writer and social critic, Dickens lived from 1812 to 1870 and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. 

His notable works include The Pickwick Papers, Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations.

Nicholas Dattner tables hit the auction airwaves

Two dining tables by the legendary Australian furniture maker Nicholas Dattner will be up for grabs at E.J. Ainger’s forthcoming auction from 9.30am Tuesday September 12 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.

Dattner, who hung up his mitre in 2008 after 25 years in business to pursue other goals in life, was an unashamed promoter of timber furniture and offered what he modestly called “the most beautiful tables in the world”.
