Georgian secretaire bookcases among auction furniture highlights

Three Georgian flame mahogany secretaire bookcases are highlights of a comprehensive range of English, French country and Australia cedar, silky oak and blackwood furniture from homes throughout Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula at E.J. Ainger’s forthcoming weekly sale from 9.30am at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.

The auction features twin pedestal and other desks, a fine selection of contemporary gilded and French design mirrors and a pair of light brown leather Chesterfield settees.

Another attraction is the Victorian and reproduction mahogany banquet dining room tables, chairs and sideboards, and a walnut music stand.

Country oak farmhouse tables and chairs join Australian cedar two-door bookcases, French vitrines and hallstands as sources of interest – while two collectable rocking horses might well be worth a look for buyers with young children.

The auction also contains interesting English and other dinner services, crystal ware and a large collection of Goebel figures.

Other attractions include Australian and overseas oil paintings and watercolours, English pocket watches and jewellery, and contemporary bronze figures and figure lamps.
