Quality furniture and porcelain to goad auction goers

A Wertheim walnut cased upright piano is among a range of furnishings featuring English retro teak dining room pieces and Victorian walnut and mahogany mirror backed credenzas at E.J. Ainger’s forthcoming weekly sale from 9.30am Tuesday August 30 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.

The auction, which includes several estates and private consignments from several of Melbourne’s wealthier suburbs, contains Regency and Victorian-style dining room settings and an impressive oak D-end dining table with 14 matching chairs.

Other furniture includes a pair of new leather reclining settees, an Eames style chair and footstool, Persian rugs, decorative mirrors and cement garden urns and other items.

Porcelain collectors will be interested in the huge collection of decorative ceramics and porcelain (including figures) – while auction goers can also have their fill of crystal and glass, quality estate jewellery, sterling silver and silver plate items, mantel clocks and cased butterflies.

Art collectors should check out the selection of Australian and European oil paintings, watercolours and graphics.

One of the more interesting items is a scale model of a yacht.
