Pro Hart exhibition painting an auction highlight

The Pro Hart painting The Malley Races – exhibited at the 1975 Australian Bush Series Exhibition at the Australian High Commission in Hong Kong – is one of the more interesting highlights at Kim’s Auctions forthcoming sale from 11am Sunday May 22 at 327-329 Warrigal Road, Burwood.

The painting joins works by other renowned Australian artists – including Charles Blackman, Sidney Nolan, David Boyd, Ray Crooke, David Bromley, Evan Mackley and Wykeham Perry at the auction.

Two 16^th century Chinese Ming Dynasty ink and colour on silk paintings with museum frames should attract plenty of attention.

Fifty per cent of the auction items are from a private Sydney collection and include about 30 18^th and 19^th century sterling silver pieces such as candelabras and trays.

Other sought after items will be the Royal Worcester vases and the matching 19^th century Sevres bronze vases and clock – along with a collection of Royal Doulton and Meissen.

Lalique and Baccarat crystal bowls and figures feature prominently and are bound to attract plenty of attention.

There also is a 19^th century alabaster vase on a pedestal, a bronze bust of a young lady on a marble base and a 19^th century museum quality bronze of a lady on a four-sided wooden carved ormolu pedestal.

For furniture enthusiasts there are several items of exhibition quality French 18^th and 19^th century boulle and kingwood marquetry inlaid pieces.

These include a boulle ormolu mounted serpentine front card table, a 19^th century ormolu mounted Victorian shaped centre room table and a Victorian burr walnut multi inlaid mirror door white marble top sideboard.

Other furniture items include an ebony boulle ormolu mounted serpentine front three-door credenza and a two-drawer ormolu marble top commode.

The auction contains a rare cupid bronze salon clock, large French gilt overmantel mirror and an ivory carved tusk on a wooden stand.

There also is a Triple Stars slot machine, a collection of Chinese jade, red coral, South Seas pearl necklaces, an 18-carat white gold diamond and emerald ring, and ladies and gents watches.

Among the Chinese items on offer are Han Dynasty horse figurines and blue and white Qing Dynasty porcelain vases.
