Outstanding antique furniture leads the charge for 2016 first auction

The contents of a Toorak mansion are the highlight of E.J. Ainger’s first auction for the year from 9.30am Tuesday February 2 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.
The Mathoura Road property contains outstanding Victorian and 19th century French library, dining room, bedroom and occasional furniture and luxurious lounge furnishings.
A Hawthorn estate that once belonged to one of Melbourne’s leading interior decorators of the 1990s and early 21st century features a fine range of Italian, French-style Louis furniture, light fittings, mirrors and ornaments is bound to intrigue auction goers.
The auction also contains two Victorian half-tester beds, paintings, coloured prints, garden furnishings, gilded mirrors, sculptured brass ceiling lights, torchieres and pendants.
Other features include collectable porcelain, crystal, oriental, brass and copper items, silverware and Middle Eastern patterned rugs.
