John Gould's Birds of Australia flock to auction

A single owner collection of John Gould’s Birds of Australia lithographs will be auctioned from 11am Sunday October 25 by Leonard Joel at 333 Malvern Road, South Yarra.

The 66-strong corporate collection, assembled by the company’s chief executive officer and no longer part of its forward planning, should be highly sought after by Gould collectors.

Ten of the lithographs are rare and highly collectible and estimates range from $500 to $15,000 for individual items.

However, based on Bonham’s 2010 Sydney Gould sale, collectors could pay a lot more for the works.
