Watch bonanza for collectors

A single owner watch collection from a deceased estate should delight jewellery buffs when Young’s Auctions brings down the hammer for its November special sale from 9.30am Friday November 28 at 229 Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn.

The watch collection includes such iconic brands as IWC, Longines, Rolex and Omega.

The auction contains a range of quality jewellery from several vendors including rather ornate diamond and silver earrings and a large diamond and silver ring.

An interesting feature is two apprentice pieces – one a chest of drawers and the other a cabinet.

Sterling silver is another strong entry with several items to attract auction goers including an egg cruet set and fish servers with ivory handles.

A Versace vase is another attraction and, for antique domestic household item collectors, a hand pumped old vacuum cleaner dating from about 1900 should really set the heart racing.

There are sets of toy cars and trains and an antique cylinder phonograph.

One of the more unusual items is an old train destination mechanism containing the names of all Melbourne stations while furniture is notable for a Grant Featherstone rocking chair, an American Cutler roll-top desk and a pair of emu-back carver chairs.
