Classy Lalique vase to entice auction collectors

An exquisite blue Lalique Piriac vase with frosted glass and rippled band is a major highlight of E.J. Ainger’s special sale from 11am Sunday November 9 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.

The same collector also has a splendid silver collection in the auction including items from renowned silver maker Nathaniel Mills – which matches well with other silver in the sale including a German 875 silver canteen of cutlery.

The properties of Patten Hill from the early settlement town of Malmsbury and the spectacular Chartwell from the Mornington Peninsula have been home to a number of striking antiques and furnishings featured in this sale – including an early pine dresser, early 18^th century sword box and a French provincial armoire.

Complementing these items is a magnificent art deco eagle on a Melbourne stand from an exceptionally successful inner-suburban Melbourne family.

This collector also contributes an enviable clock collection assembled over a lifetime, as well as a notable modernist European chaise longue, Dario Zoureff furnishing, an oak gateleg table, and an oak 18^th century welsh dresser.

The sale also features artworks from distinguished Australian artists Hugh Sawrey, Hans Heysen, Pro Hart, Richard Chamerski, William Nicholas Rowell, Howard Ashton, Daryl Lindsay, Robert Taylor-Ghee and Charles Blackman.

Australian pottery collected in the 1980’s encompasses works by Merric Boyd, Castle Harris, Remued, Peggy Whiting and Una Deerbon, and the auction also features a fine porcelain collection including Royal Worcester items by Harry Stinton, James Stinton and Albert Shuck.
