Arts and jewellery auction in COVID lockdown style

Kim’s Auctions has joined the online auction frenzy during Melbourne’s continuing COVID-19 lockdown with an arts and jewellery sale from 11am Sunday October 25.
Viewing of all 296 auction items and bidding will be online with plenty to attract auction goers seeking an intimate jewellery gift, art works, ancient artefacts, small decorative art pieces or furniture item for that special nook and cranny.
Among the art on offer are many affordable paintings including A.A. Prout’s Street Scene watercolour (lot 11), Dudley Drew’s (1924-2015) Floral scene (lot 14), Joseph Zbukvic’s Before the Race (lot 118), Pro Hart’s (1928-2006) Taking a Break (lot 166), Bill Coleman’s (1922-1993) Cubist Still Life (lot 170) and David Boyd’s (1924-2011) Friends (lot 172).
Chinese artefacts feature a circa 1913 large hand carved ivory brush pot depicting a villager/family spring scene complete with artist’s seal (lot 101), while a rare 4th century BC ancient Greek ceramic Apulian Lekanys (lot 103) is bound to attract plenty of online attention.
From the Egyptian Late Period 600BC-300BC comes a wooden Ptah-Sokar Osiris ((lot 105) – the classic mummiform figure displaying remnant pigments on the face and body.
Lot 107 is an 18th century Tibetan Gao handmade copper prayer box in original condition while lot 109, also original, is a Tibetan copper wine ewer.
There is a large selection of jewellery and watches to choose from including lot 111 – a 14-carat white gold opal an diamond pendant – and lot 113, an 18-carat yellow gold ladies Rolex Oyster perpetual watch with diamond bezel and hour markers.
Other jewellery attractions include an 18-carat gold diamond ring featuring 22 brilliant cut stones (lot 139), a 14-carat gold South Sea pearl and diamond earrings (lot 148) and 14-carat gold tanzanite and diamond earrings (lot 150).
Other items to stir buyer interest are a circa 1500BC-1200BC Gangetic Valley copper harpoon from Uttar Pradesh in Northern India (lot 132) featuring a tapered blade with raised medial rib and three pairs of projecting incurved barbs, a circa 1570BC-1070BC Egyptian New Kingdom limestone wall fragment (lot 133) depicting a vervet monkey holding a cluster of grapes in both paws tethered to a chair in which the lady of the house is seated, and a circa 253AD-260AD rare marble provincial Roman pyxis depicting a battle scene between Roman and Persian armies at the time of Emperor Valerian and King Shapur (lot 135).
