Jewellery is among the top attractions at Gibson’s Autumn Auction Series from 10.30am Monday May 25 at 885-889 high Street, Armadale.
However, given current concerns over the spread of the coronavirus throughout Australia, viewing will for this auction will be by appointment only.
One of the major features in this category is a yellow and white diamond dress ring (lot 519) with a catalogue estimate of $20,000-$25,000.
Likewise, a Rolex ladies gold datelist wristwatch (lot 574 - $8000-$10,000 estimate) is bound to attract plenty of attention – particularly from male auction goers looking for a special gift for their partners or other family members with Easter and Mother’s Day in the offing.
For those buyers who like fob watches, a circa 1900 Swiss minute repeater full calendar moon face chronograph (lot 563) would make an ideal addition to their wardrobe and at $12,000-$15,000 catalogue estimate is assured of maintaining its investment value.
Art lovers may well be interested in a 19th/20th century Chinese school ancestor portrait from the mid Qin Dynasty era (lot 423), while a large and impressive 19th century famille-rose ‘dragon and phoenix’ vase from the same period (lot 374) should attract plenty of attention.
Another item worthy of closer examination is a Chinese 19th/20th century green jade figure of a bixie (lot 446), and for clock lovers an impressive 19th century English Grand Tour Egyptian revival bronze mounted rouge and black marble mantel clock by Webster London (lot 10) could be a welcome addition to their collection.
An Indian gilt bronze figure of Green Tara (lot 404) is another find and there are plenty of attractive furniture items to whet auction appetites.
These include a circa 1838 impressive William IV mahogany breakfront bookcase (lot 218) and a late 17th/early 18th century Loui XIV walnut geometric design armoire (lot 13) from the Bordeaux region of France.
