Rare Singer sewing machine at Melbourne auction

A rare Singer pedal sewing machine complete with motifs on the side panels is among E.J. Ainger’s auction treasures at its forthcoming sale from 9.30am Tuesday July 16 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.

Other quality furniture items bound to attract auction goers include the residual contents of a Yarra Glen home such as a Victorian mahogany desk, walnut dressing table, tallboy chest and dining table.

According to auctioneer john Ainger, one of the unexpected finds at this auction is a pair of what appears to be Grant Featherston designer chairs – always popular with collectors.

“Other attractions include a matching pair of cast iron settees, a pair of mansion size cast iron garden urns and a pair of wrought iron gates,” he says.

The auction also contains sculptures, a bar suitable for a favourite den, a selection of French pewter, sterling silver, porcelain, brass and copperware and decorative paintings ideal for brightening up a bare family room wall.
