Vintage toy collection excites auction collectors

Collectors are eagerly awaiting the auctioning of the Richard Dawson Collection of vintage toys at noon Wednesday August 12 by Leonard Joel at 333 Malvern Road, South Yarra.

Built up over many years, this single owner collection features many highly collectable names including Dinky, Corgi, Hornby Dublo and Wrenn.

Highlights include a Dinky 514 Guy van ‘Weetabix’ in its original box (lot 84) and a Flash Gordon rocket fighter by Louis Marx USA circa 1939 (lot 200).

The fighter is clockwork powered by a rear flint wheel and is red and yellow in colour.

Another interesting item is the 12-volt electric powered Basset-Lowke ‘O’ Gauge compound locomotive and tender LMS crimson lake no. 1082 (lot 246).
