Tinge of sadness to final auction

While there is a tinge of sadness among staff and management at the thought that this will be their final ever sale, Young’s Auctions is going out in style with its last offerings contain an absolute bonanza of Christmas gift ideas.

This swansong auction will be held from 9.30am Friday December 18 at 229 Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn and promises to attract one of the largest crowds in Young’s 85-year history.

According to director Ian Young they will not be disappointed.

“Among major attractions is a large quantity of quality jewellery including diamond rings between one and two carats and a range of necklaces,” he said.

“And there is a huge collection of wines such as Penfolds Grange, Bin 407, 707 and 389, Mosswood, Henschke, Hill of Grace and Hardy Bros.”

Other highlights include brand new Versace, Omega and Rado watches worth $18,000-$20,000 retail while quality fountain pens are there for the keen collector.

For the ladies there is a large selection of Louis Vuitton handbags, while those auction goers looking to dress up their kitchens should not go past the new Miele oven or Liebherr refrigerators.

Model toy collectors have not been forgotten with arrange of antique models on display.

Unusual is the oak and glass cabinet containing a parrot and there also is an eminently collectable antique typewriter.
