Swarovski crystal a popular auction item

Several Swarovski crystal ornaments will be part of Young’s Auctions latest sale from 9.30am Friday March 28 at 229 Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn.

Popular particularly among Asian buyers, the crystal ornaments include a pair featuring the wonders of the sea and several other individual silver crystal creations.

There are still several Royal Doulton character jugs remaining from last week’s massive sale, however, auction goers will no doubt be interested in some of the latest art offerings – which include paintings by A.A. Prout, Brian Nash and Brian Cox.

Among the furniture are several antiques including a Victorian mahogany dining setting, octagonal centre table, hallstand and sideboards, and a cedar apprentice chest.

Unusual is the Italian Assi d’Osolo centrepiece table with four opposed leaves that fold underneath allowing the furniture piece to still keep the same shape when used in the smaller version.

When purchased new about five years ago, this unusual creation cost $15,000.

The auction also contains modern furniture including a Nick Scali leather lounge suite.
