Summer months bring out the best in interior design auctions

Mossgreen will hold its sixth Interior Decorator auction from 2pm Sunday October 25 in a sale that showcases a curated selection of indoor and outdoor items for homeowners designed for the summer months.

Internationally famous designer Allegra Hicks wrote the catalogue introduction in which she alluded to the 18th and 19th century French furniture, mid-20th century Murano glass and retro Italian armchairs within the auction mix.

With a passionate eye for design, Hicks established her own business in London in the 1990s and in 1999 released her first range of caftans and fashion accessories – something she now does twice a year.

In November 2010, Hicks published her latest book “An Eye For Design” which has been described as a “visual poem and an internal voyage through a designer’s mind which will inspire readers to look at fabrics and interiors in new ways”.

Hicks named several auction items she believed would attract auction goers including a gilt bronze and painted French bureau-plat (lot 46), a pair of clear Murano glass and brass wall lights (lot 191) and several Venini frames (lots 220-225).

Other items of interest include a pair of aqua velvet armchairs with oak legs (lot 109) and an 18th century Italian commode (lot 137).
