Leonard Joel’s April Modern Design auction features an international collection with designer pieces never before offered on the Australian auction market.

Highlights of the sale, from 6.30pm Thursday April 23 at 333 Malvern Road South Yarra, include the Saruyama Sofa designed by Toshiyuki Kita and manufactured by Moroso.

Another classic is the ‘Wave Sofa’ designed in 1988 by famous female architect Zaha Hadid.

The multi award-winning architect has designed some of the most famous landmarks and furniture of 20th century.

Another major feature of this auction is Leonard Joel’s partnership with New Zealand modern design store Mr Bigglesworthy and its introduction to the Australian market.

The April auction will be the first official entry for Dan and Emma Eagle, who in 2011 established Mr Bigglesworthy, and the collection will showcase famous designers and premium pieces from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Collection highlights include works from Charles and Ray Eames, Arne Vodder and Grete Jalk.
