House contents feature art and antiques for on site auction

Situated in Templestowe’s golden mile, the contents of 152 Serpelles Road, Templestowe includes a fine collection of French and English antiques, Australian art, antique Chinese porcelain furniture and jade and original Persian carpets and object d’art.

These will be auctioned on site from noon Sunday March 22 by Christian McCann Auctions.

The French furniture includes ormolu mounted Boulle antiques, commodes, vitrines, bureau-plats, carved giltwood cabinets, salon and occasional pieces, and mirrors and pedestals.

The English antiques feature burr walnut floral inlaid marquetry furniture.

The auction contains the finest French and English 18th and 19th century porcelain including French Sevres ormolu mounted vases, 18th century hand painted examples, English Royal Worcester and 19th century Meissen and Vienna.

Among the Australian art on offer are paintings by Hugh Sawrey, Pro Hart, Walter Withers, J.H. Scheltema, Rubery Bennett and David Boyd.

Pure wool, hand woven Persian carpets are bound to excite collectors, along with an 18th century Dutch marquetry long case clock.

Other timepieces include French Boulle bracket clocks, English bracket clocks, carriage clocks and clock sets.

There is a superb collection of Chinese porcelain including antique blue and white, signed hand painted vases – along with a fine collection of jade seals and pendants.

The auction also features a collection of signed bronze figures and figure groups, a garage contents, trestle tables and a full sixe Bungy play set.
