The 19th century chair has a specially designed back, which is angled at 45 degrees for easy viewing of our lunar cousin with a minimum of fuss.

The auction, from 9.30am on Friday July 3 at 229 Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn, has a large range of items to keep auction goers busy.

Other furniture pieces include a double bombe commode, an Oriental sideboard and coffee table, Moran settees and Laura Ashley armchairs.

There also are several pieces of WM Woodcarvings furniture including a dining table, chairs, sideboard, auto trolley, hallstand and hall table.

Other items to feature in the auction are Royal Doulton and Lladro figures, lustres and Oriental chargers, and crystal pieces.

There is a large collection of international and Australian coins and the last of a comprehensive raw opal collection.
