Coin operated music machine to bring collectors running

A rare early 1900s coin operated Imperator music machine will bring collectors in droves to auctioneer Steve Graham’s annual special sale from 10am Sunday November 8 at 64 Urquhart Street, Woodend.

The music machine will be in good company with a large street piano, organ grinders herdie gerdie, musical instruments, antique music boxes, phonographs, gramophones and a symphonium joining it on the auctioneer’s block.

Motor memorabilia collectors also should be in their element with old Shell, Golden Fleece and Caltex bowsers – and an original Golden Fleece ram – up for grabs.

Other motor memorabilia includes quality enamel signs, oil bottle stands and oil bottles and tins.

One of the more unusual items is a rare 1.8-metre high Steiff camel that will be auctioned alongside toys, scooters, tricycles, pedal cars and large model ships in display cases.

There also is a model steam powered steamroller, Harley Davidson parts, scientific instruments and rustic mechanical and tool items.

Other interesting items include ceremonial swords, lamps, scales, native carvings, an elephant collection, buffalo and antelope horns and cowhide rugs.

Of particular interest is an early 1900s gambling table from a United States paddle steamer that plied its way up and down the Mississippi River.
