A diamond bracelet comprising 10 panels, each with a baguette diamond set scroll and a pear-shape and marquise diamond, is one of the more valuable items (catalogue estimate $60,000-$70,000) at Mossgreen’s forthcoming Fine Jewels & Watches auction from 2pm Sunday December 4 at 36-40 Queen Street, Woollahra in Sydney.
The auction is notable for several interesting pieces including a South Sea pearl necklace (estimate $25,000-$30,000) featuring 128 baroque pearls that can be worn as a double opera length strand or as shorter necklaces and bracelets.
Several antique jewellery items should attract plenty of buyer interest including an 1890s Belle époque diamond and enamel 18-carat gold cuff, a 1915 Belle époque diamond tiara and an 1860s Victorian diamond, pearl and sapphire bracelet.
Other worthwhile pieces include an art deco diamond bracelet and art deco diamond pendant on a chain and an Edwardian diamond pendant necklace.
Unusual is the 1870s Etruscan Revival hinged bangle with fitted box signed by J.M. Wendt, Watchmaker & Jeweller, 84 Arundle Street, Adelaide, and at Mount Gambier.
Auction goers should also be interested an Edwardian diamond, tourmaline and pearl pendant necklace in its original fitted brown leather box by Dublin jewellers H. Danker and a Victorian classical revival hardstone cameo and enamel pendant, also in its original box, by Bright & Sons Scarbororugh.
Of interest to watch collectors is the collection of 19th century ladies and gentlemen’s gold pocket watches.
