Artists feeling good about auction sale

The entire stock of Feeling in Artists Gallery in Smith Street Collingwood, which closed four months ago, will be auctioned without reserve at Christian McCann Auctions forthcoming sale over two days from noon Saturday June 23 and continuing from the same time Sunday June 24 at 419 Burnley Street, Richmond.

The gallery items include a Brighton-based art collection, Chinese antique porcelain and French furniture.

With auction items that have been consigned over the past six months, the sale has a total of 140 vendors – and a comprehensive range of pieces to suit all buyer tastes.

French and English furniture will be a major drawcard and includes ormolu mounted salon and boulle furniture, French vitrines, commodes and salon mirrors.

Porcelain collectors will be able to get in on the act with a range of exhibition quality pieces including Sevres, Meissen, Dresden, Royal Vienna and Royal Worcester.

Chinese paintings, jade and furniture abound and there is an outstanding collection of Australian art by artists such as J.H. Scheltema, Ernest Buckmaster, Pro Hart, Norman Lindsay, Charles Rowbotham, David and Walter Withers.

Antique clock collectors will be impressed at the range of English and continental timepieces including bracket and long case clocks and clock sets.

There also is an outstanding collection of signed bronzes and bronze figure groups by important artists, French and English chandeliers, antique banquet lamps and Persian carpets.
