So much art from which to choose at Australian October auctions
Auction goers will be treated to a plethora of Australian and international art choices on Sunday October 16 in Melbourne when Gibson’s Auctions adds its selection of more than 260 paintings to other art auctions on the day.
Gibson’s Auctions will hold its sale from 12pm at 885-889 High Street, Armadale and from lot 1 – well-known Melbourne bohemian artist and restaurant owner the late Mirka Mora’s (1928-2018) The Sisters 1963 – collectors and first time buyers should be absorbed.

Top international and Australian artists in Australian print auction
Some of the world’s and Australia’s best artists – including Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) and Andy Warhol (1928-1987) – are represented in Menzies forthcoming Prints & Multiples live online auction from 6.30pm Wednesday October 12 at the company’s Sydney gallery at 12 Todman Avenue, Kensington.
While the Picasso work is a soft ground etching entitled Jeune Femme Surprenant le Reflet d’une Hirondelle dans son Miroir 1936 (lot 32), Warhol’s is a colour screenprint of Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger (lot 15) completed in 1975.

Thirty-five paintings by Heidelberg School Australian impressionist artist John Llewellyn Jones (1866-1927) will be auctioned as part of the Tracey and Anthony Muston collection of quality antiques and art on site in their country estate at 40 Hyde hill Road, Harkaway from 12pm Sunday October 9 by Christian McCann Auctions.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Jones studied at the National Gallery of Victoria Art School before becoming an early member of Box Hill artists’ camp, established in 1885.

First up are the items from Gordon Cope-Williams Cope Williams Winery at Romsey in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges which the trustees now wish to sell.

Part two of the Greek and Roman antiquities collection assembled over many years by Australian collector Stewart Macciolli will be auctioned from 5pm Sunday September 4 by Christian McCann Auctions at 7 Harper Street, Abbotsford – six months after the first sale was held at his Hampton home.
The antiquities and collectables were designed for the late 1600s and 1700s Grand Tour market at a time when mainly young Englishmen travelled throughout Europe on exploration and learning expeditions.

A pair of carved timber portrait panels featuring an Aboriginal man and woman with headscarf dated 1918 (lot 55) by famous Australian sculptor Robert Prenzel (1866-1941) is among the highlights of Gibson’s Auctions two-day Australian, Maritime and Natural History sale, live from 12pm Sunday August 28 and continuing the next day as a timed online auction closing from 10am, at 885-889 High Street, Armadale.
Prenzel was born in Prussia, training as a woodcarver before working his way through Europe and arriving in Melbourne on November 24, 1888.
