Lifetime collection goes under the hammer at palatial home

Emmeline McFadyen was a well-known customer at leading Melbourne antique shops and auction rooms in the late 1980s and early 1990s and over her life amassed a fantastic collection of antiques and collectables for her palatial home “Lindsay” at 31 Wrixon Street, Kew.

Now Christian McCann Auctions has been asked to auction her comprehensive collection – the entire contents of the home – on site from noon Sunday August 12.

Gibson's fronts Melbourne auction scene with single owner collection

New Melbourne auction house Gibson’s Auctioneers & Valuers has picked up the collection of the late Dr Robert Wilson for its inaugural auction from 11am Sunday August 12 at Level 1, 885-889 High Street, Armadale.

Born in 1945 in Camberwell, Wilson (who died last year) studied science at the University of Melbourne before completing a doctorate in theoretical physics at Monash University in 1972.

After a stint as 3MBSFM’s general manager and time spent with then Victorian Minster for the Arts Race Mathews, he joined the National Gallery of Victoria’s staff.

Historic racing car among decorative arts auction mix

A ‘Clement’ Austin Seven Special is a major highlight of E.J. Ainger’s forthcoming two-day auction from 11am each day Saturday August 11 and Sunday August 12 at 433 Bridge Road, Richmond.

In 1963, John Clement built this historic Australian racing car and competitively raced it in South Australia for the next three years at the Mallala Motorsport Park and Collingrove Hillclimb track in the Barossa Valley.

Throughout the 1960s, the car appeared in different body configurations including being fitted with a Renault 750cc powerhouse.
